Allied Pilots Association Congratulates New Member of National Mediation Board
FORT WORTH, Texas (Jan. 25, 2022) – The Allied Pilots Association (APA), representing the 14,000 pilots of American Airlines, congratulates Deirdre Hamilton for officially becoming a member of the National Mediation Board.
“For more than two decades, Deirdre Hamilton has admirably represented workers in the aviation industry,” said APA President Capt. Eric Ferguson. “We are confident her experience and perspective will make her an asset to the Board as it performs its mediation and arbitration duties.”
The National Mediation Board is an independent federal agency that facilitates labor-management relations within the nation’s railroad and airline industries. Ms. Hamilton’s appointment was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on Dec. 7, and she was sworn in today.
Ms. Hamilton has been a staff attorney for the Airline Division at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters for the past six years. She was previously a senior staff attorney for the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA and a legal fellow for the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Founded in 1963, the Allied Pilots Association — the largest independent pilots union in the United States — is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. APA represents the 14,000 pilots of American Airlines, including several hundred pilots on full-time military leave of absence serving in the armed forces. The union’s website is AlliedPilots.org.
