Allied Pilots Association Applauds New Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico

FORT WORTH, Texas (Jan. 22, 2020) — The Allied Pilots Association (APA) expressed its appreciation to President Trump for leading efforts to negotiate a new trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, and for Congress’ prompt approval of the new agreement.

“We are gratified by the Trump Administration’s strong leadership and by the overwhelmingly bipartisan approval in the House and Senate of the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement,” said APA President Capt. Eric Ferguson. “A level playing field for U.S. workers is something we can all rally around.”

According to the White House, the U.S. International Trade Commission estimates the new agreement could add up to $235 million in new economic growth and 589,000 jobs to the U.S. economy within five years.

“For too long, our nation’s hard-working men and women have paid the price where international trade agreements are concerned,” Ferguson said. “We look forward to seeing this kind of bold leadership continue as the White House, the Senate, and the House put the interests of U.S. workers at the forefront in future trade deals.”

Founded in 1963, the Allied Pilots Association — the largest independent pilots union in the United States — is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. APA represents the 15,000 pilots of American Airlines, including several hundred pilots on full-time military leave of absence serving in the armed forces. The union’s website is AlliedPilots.org.
