Allied Pilots Association’s Statement on Aeroflot Flight SU1492

FORT WORTH, Texas (May 6, 2019) — The Allied Pilots Association (APA), representing the 15,000 pilots of American Airlines, expressed condolences to the families of the 41 people who lost their lives Sunday aboard Aeroflot Flight SU1492

“All of the men, women, and children who perished in Moscow are on our minds today, as are their loved ones,” said Captain Daniel F. Carey, APA’s President. “When a tragedy like this occurs, the entire airline community mourns.

“We hope the investigation into the cause of Sunday’s accident will reveal information that prevents similar incidents from occurring.”

Founded in 1963, the Allied Pilots Association — the largest independent pilots union in the United States — is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. APA represents the 15,000 pilots of American Airlines, including several hundred pilots on full-time military leave of absence serving in the armed forces. The union's website is AlliedPilots.org. American Airlines is the world's largest passenger airline.
