Allied Pilots Association President Reacts to Qatar Airways’ Withdrawal
FORT WORTH, Texas (Aug. 2, 2017) — Captain Dan Carey, president of the Allied Pilots Association, had the following reaction to the news that Qatar Airways is no longer trying to invest in American Airlines.
“I’m glad to hear that my colleagues and I never have to worry about reporting to Akbar Al Baker. Now that this proposed investment is off the table, perhaps the sheik can devote his attention to figuring out how to comply with Qatar’s Open Skies agreement with the United States.”
Founded in 1963, the Allied Pilots Association — the largest independent pilots union in the United States — is headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas. APA represents the 15,000 pilots of American Airlines, including several hundred pilots on full-time military leave of absence serving in the armed forces. The union’s website is AlliedPilots.org. American Airlines is the world’s largest passenger airline.
