APA Board Approves 8% Pay Rate Increase
During a voting conference call this afternoon, the APA Board of Directors approved management’s offer of pay rate increases. The board and national officers agree that the increases represent progress in APA’s efforts to align our pilots’ compensation and working conditions with those of our industry peers.
As I stated last week, management’s action represents an important step in the process of building trust and a culture of excellence, and it would never have happened without your support. I am hopeful that this represents a turning point in our relationship with management.
What’s Next?
In a letter from management regarding the increases, they acknowledged the need to respond to our concerns about scheduling. We will continue to elaborate on the nature of our concerns. In addition, management informed APA that they are interested in continuing discussions regarding the length of service and long-term disability provisions of our contract.
I welcome management’s recognition that expenses related to labor should be treated as an investment instead of a cost. After all, there is no one more invested in this airline than our pilots.
Fellow pilots, your ever-consistent professionalism and support have brought us to this point. With your ongoing engagement, we will continue making real progress, and a real difference, for all of us.
See you on the line.
In Unity,
CA Dan Carey
APA President
