  • College degree and RN or LVN license required
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in general nursing
  • Strong, diverse medical knowledge base
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work in an unstructured environment and add value to the departmental team Ability to work independently and multitask projects with varying priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to handle sensitive documents and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Word; familiar with database programs


  • Communicate with pilots via phone and email to provide guidance on various medical conditions, treatments, medications, and FAA procedures
  • Offer referrals across the country to best treat various conditions
  • Follow up with pilots on a monthly basis regarding critical, ongoing situations
  • Send informational packets to the pilot listing what the FAA will need to process their medical certificate
  • Coordinate referrals with doctors to help with the FAA process
  • Work closely with pilots and physicians to gather required documentation for FAA clearance
  • Review/prepare FAA packets and track throughout the clearance process
  • Send the medical certificate, once received, to the pilot and instruct him/her on the clearance process with the company
  • Discuss and review information with pilot to ensure understanding of the company's sick verification and return to work process
  • Send required paperwork to the company’s Absence and Return Center in a timely manner for sick verification and clearing the sick list
  • Participate in weekly case review meetings with AME consultant
  • Attend FAA seminars; some travel required
