NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF FLIGHT ANNOUNCED:
This morning American Airlines announced that Captain John Hale was appointed the new Vice President of Flight. He fills the vacancy left by Captain Mark Hettermann, who retired on June 1 after nearly seven years as the airline’s chief pilot.
Upon hearing the news, APA President Captain Dave Bates contacted Captain Hale with congratulations on his appointment.
“I look forward to a new beginning in the relationship between the pilots of American Airlines and our flight department management team,” Captain Bates said. “It’s time to establish a positive and cooperative working relationship that truly reflects the contribution that American’s most valuable asset, our pilots, bring to work every day. It is long past time to conclude our contract negotiations, and I look forward to working with Captain Hale to get it done.”
AA SECOND-QUARTER EARNINGS:
Also today, American Airlines announced that it posted a $10.7 million loss during the second quarter. In addition, American announced the purchase of 35 additional Boeing 737-800s to be delivered in 2011 and 2012. Several other executive changes were also announced, including current Chief Financial Officer Tom Horton being named the new President of AMR and American Airlines, and current Vice President of Customer Relationship Marketing and Reservations Bella Goren becoming the new CFO. We will have a full recap of the earnings announcement and subsequent Wall Street analysts’ call in tomorrow’s News Digest.
That’s all we have for today. Thanks for checking this message.
