APA INFORMATION HOTLINE
This is APA Communications Chairman Captain Sam Mayer with the APA Information Hotline for Tuesday, March 2.
APA NATIONAL OFFICER NOMINATION ROUND: As a reminder, APA National Officer nomination ballots must be received by the Dallas office of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) no later than 5 p.m. Central on Tuesday, March 9. If you have misplaced or spoiled your ballot, you may contact AAA by calling 1-800-529-5218 to obtain a replacement. The votes will be tallied at APA headquarters beginning at 9 a.m. Central on Wednesday, March 10, with the results to be announced later that same day.
Also as a reminder, DCA and DFW domicile officer election ballots must be received by AAA’s Dallas office no later than 9 a.m. Central on Thursday, March 18. The votes will be tallied beginning at 10 a.m. Central and the results will likewise be announced later that day.
Make your voice heard by exercising your right to vote in the nomination round for APA National Officers and—if you are eligible—in the ongoing DCA or DFW domicile elections.
Please note that all election ballots must be postmarked. There is no provision for hand-delivery.
FURLOUGH MITIGATION PROGRAM UPDATE: The deadline for additional volunteers to help mitigate the 64 pilot furloughs scheduled for April 1 is 8 a.m. Central on Monday, March 8. Information regarding the furlough mitigation program may be accessed by selecting the “Furlough Mitigation Information” button on the members’ home page of alliedpilots.org.
To participate, we recommend that you first contact Captain Rusty McDaniels, APA Furlough/Membership Committee Chairman, at rmcdaniels@alliedpiltos.org. Remember, you are required to submit your name as a volunteer with your chief pilot’s office by the deadline.
MARCH 31 DEADLINE FOR REPLACING PAPER PILOT CERTIFICATES: Pilots who have not yet traded in their paper pilot certificates have until March 31, 2010, when the paper certificates will expire. If you’re still using paper, don’t delay. Pilots can no longer exercise the privileges of their paper pilot certificates after the March 31 deadline. Renewing a certificate can be done online or through the mail, and instructions can be found at www.faa.gov/licenses_certificates.
Requesting a replacement certificate online requires creating an account with Airman Certification Online Services, which only takes a few minutes. Being registered can help you in the future with quicker processing of an address change or a replacement certificate request.
To process a request by mail, fill out and send in Form 8060-56 (10/09)—accessible at the previously noted URL—along with a $2 replacement fee. Make your check payable to FAA. New certificates will take four to six weeks to arrive with mail processing and seven to 10 days for online processing.
That’s all we have for today. Thanks for checking this message.
