Allied Pilots Association

APA INFORMATION HOTLINE

This is APA Communications Deputy Chairman First Officer Scott Shankland with the APA Information Hotline for Tuesday, Feb. 16.

FURLOUGH MITIGATION PROGRAM UPDATE: The first deadline for members to volunteer for any element of the furlough mitigation program is 8 a.m. Central Standard Time on Friday, Feb. 19. Volunteers who meet this deadline would be eligible for participation in one of the mitigation programs effective Feb. 28. The second volunteer deadline—for participation effective April 1—is 8 a.m. on Monday, March 8. To participate, we recommend that pilots should first contact Captain Rusty McDaniels, APA Membership/Furlough Committee Chairman, at rmcdaniels@alliedpilots.org. You are required to submit your name as a volunteer with your chief pilot’s office by the appropriate deadline.

APA negotiators met with management today to further discuss implementation of the furlough mitigation program. A number of pilots have expressed an interest in the program elements and APA and management are now working out the implementation details.

As we announced last week, following the APA Board of Directors’ unanimous decision to adopt Letter of Agreement 10-02, this furlough mitigation program has three independent elements—enhanced furlough stand-in-stead program, furlough mitigation enhanced leaves of absence program and creation of a voluntary part-time flying program. In response to member questions, the Negotiating and Membership/Furlough Committees have posted updated information and Q&As on alliedpilots.org. This information may be accessed by selecting the prominent “Furlough Mitigation Information” button on the member’s home page.

Remember, to assist in furlough mitigation, the deadline for the Feb. 28 furloughs is 8 a.m. Central Standard Time on Friday, Feb. 19. The deadline for the April 1 furloughs is Monday, March 8.

That’s all we have for today. Thanks for checking this message.
