APA INFORMATION HOTLINE
This is APA Communications Chairman Captain Sam Mayer with the APA Information Hotline for Friday, February 5.
APA MEMBERSHIP REJECTS APA CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS CHANGE: Today at APA headquarters, the American Arbitration Association (AAA) tallied the membership ballots for resolution R2009-63, Rev. 4. This resolution would have changed the APA Constitution and Bylaws regarding National Officer election procedures. Following a verified membership referendum petition, the change was subject to a membership-wide vote. With 990 votes FOR and 3,558 votes AGAINST, the resolution fails to pass membership ratification. The certified results of the vote have been posted on the members’ home page of alliedpilots.org under “Headliners.”
FURLOUGH NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE: APA negotiators met with management today to further discuss potential furlough mitigation proposals. The meeting involved a free-flowing exchange of ideas, a couple of which garnered enough mutual interest to warrant further examination. The parties recessed to conduct further independent evaluations and are scheduled to meet again Monday morning. APA hopes to have a furlough mitigation proposal to present to the APA Board of Directors during its meeting next week.
SPECIAL APA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING NEXT WEEK: Next week, the APA National Officers, Board of Directors and select national committee members will be convening at APA headquarters for a special meeting. The meeting is scheduled to run for several days, during which the APA leadership is expected to concentrate its agenda on discussions with the APA Negotiating Committee. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 9 and is scheduled to adjourn mid-day on Friday, Feb. 12.
Due to the nature of the meeting, we expect large portions to be conducted in closed executive session. However, all members in good standing are welcome to attend any open portion of the meeting.
NATIONAL OFFICER ELECTION UPDATE: LAX Captain Chris Callas has withdrawn his nomination for the office of APA president and DFW First Officer Rob Baker has withdrawn his nomination for the office of APA vice president. You can view the revised list of candidates for APA president, vice president and secretary-treasurer on the members’ home page of alliedpilots.org under “Headliners.”
That’s all we have for today. Thanks for checking this message.
