This is Communications Committee Chairman Captain Sam Mayer with the APA Information Hotline for Wednesday, June 24.
APA BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING RECAP: The APA Board of Directors convened at APA headquarters yesterday and today for the primary purpose of establishing the union’s budget for fiscal year 2010, which begins on July 1. Today, the Board voted to approve a budget for the first three months of fiscal year 2010 that is based on the current 1.5 percent membership dues, with .15 percent of the total to be allocated to the union’s general reserve fund. The remaining 1.35 percent will fund the union’s activities. The Board further agreed that between now and the end of the three-month period, APA’s Strategic Planning Committee will develop and present a plan for the balance of fiscal year 2010. Once the Board approves a new strategic plan, the Board will then tailor APA’s budget to accommodate that plan.
In other developments, the Board voted to add the following to serve as members at large on the Strategic Planning Committee: MIA 777 Captain David Bates, DFW 737 First Officer Anthony Chapman, LGA 767 First Officer Jason Goldberg and SFO 767 Captain Steve Roach. Also, the Board waived policy governing Strike Preparedness Committee elections and elected the following four pilots to comprise that committee: DFW S80 First Officer Paul Fitzgerald, DFW 767 First Officer David Hill, DFW 767 First Officer David Hitte and DFW 767 First Officer Todd Macleod. First Officer Hitte was also elected to serve as SPC Chairman. MIA Domicile Chairman First Officer Mike Lackovic then read a letter of appreciation that recognized outgoing SPC Chairman Captain Rob Sproc for his service.
The Board also approved motions stipulating that the next winter Board of Directors meeting is cancelled (which required waiving policy); that the Miami Self-Help Operations Center will close; and that all APA committee members will maintain flying currency.
The Board adjourned its meeting at 2:45 p.m. this afternoon.
That’s all we have for today. Thanks for checking this hotline.
